After a fun day at the Louisiana Museum (my third visit in two weeks), we went out for a nice dinner at a restaurant called Søren K located on the ground floor of the so-called "Black Diamond", home of the Royal Library on the waterfront. My mom and I have always talked about going there for lunch, but somehow it has never happened. The restaurant is listed on the Michelin Bib Gourmand list for Copenhagen, which is awarded to restaurants offering good, quality food at a good price. Having dined there, I totally agree with the recognition.

The interior is pretty minimalist and modern, with big floor to ceiling glass windows that looks out the water. The atmosphere was more casual than I thought, but then again it is a restaurant in the library building, and it probably gets very busy during the day. At the time we went, there were not too many people, but that was fine with us as we had three kids, and it made us less worried about bothering other customers.
The menu selection was quite limited, and we all went with the three course set menu. We had salmon with smoked cheese for a starter (I also had some oysters!), Danish cockerel (young rooster) with cabbage, peas and new potatoes for the main course, and a dessert platter of chocolate cake, panna cotta, berry sorbet and some fresh berries. Everything was very good and beautifully executed. They even made the kids a nice kids plate off the menu, and all of the kids (and even the picky eater!) cleared the whole plate. For about $60 for the course dinner, it was totally a great deal for the quality, especially for Copenhagen where even a pretty average meal could cost as much or even more.
We thought Jonathan was getting lost and taking us on a long detour when we were following him to the restaurant, but during that walk, we came across this beautiful garden, which is actually the garden for the library. Maybe because it was late in the day, but there were practically nobody there except us, and it was really quaint and peaceful. On our way home, we took home some of the restaurant's "home-made" bread to feed the ducks in the pond (as per kids' request). The ducks must have appreciated the gourmet bread for dinner that day.
